DENVER (AP) — A police recruit who had to have both of his legs amputated after losing consciousness and repeatedly collapsing during fight training at Denver’s police academy is suing those who allegedly forced him to continue the “barbaric hazing ritual” after paramedics ignored warning signs.

Victor Moses, 29, alleges in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that aggressive officers knocked him down multiple times in the second round of “fight day” last year, with one of them shoving him off the mat and causing him to hit his head on the floor. He said he was pressured to continue, with officers picking him up and setting him back on his feet, before paramedics standing by were asked to check him out, the lawsuit said.

Moses told them he had the sickle cell trait, which puts him at an increased risk of medical complications from high-intensity exercise. He also said he had very low blood pressure and complained that his legs were cramping, according to the lawsuit. The symptoms are danger signs for people with his condition.

Nevertheless, paramedics cleared Moses to return to training, which the suit alleges was a decision made to support the police.

Pretty smart to become a cop, they dont need to know that stuff anyway anymore. Prolly speaks pig Latin, aced his marksman test, and loves donuts already too

I don’t know how things work in your country, but here in AMERICA 🦅, the police have the supreme court constitutional RIGHTS. That might not mean much to you but it means a lot here.

These officers of the LAW have the most difficult job in the world and MUST be able to do their job without the fear of being punished. How do you expect them to save an armed white shooter or to stop a black 6 year old kid holding a gun pop-tart if they have to second-guess their actions?!

The THIN blue line is all that separates us from the migrant criminals that are terrorizing our cities.

Just be glad you live in a country where your borders are secure from all of the migrants!

How was he recruited in the first place if he has a medical condition that prevents him from doing high intensity exercise?

Have you seen cops recently? They’re day asses. If they followed all the health guidelines they’d never get recruits

There’s only one thing police love more than beating unarmed citizens, and it’s NOT doing their actual job to the highest possible degree.

I’m actually all for it. There should be an elite squad of officers that’s only called out to armed attacks of the public. Everything else, Officer Paul Blart or Carl Winslow is just fine. Walking around at 300 pounds, no weapon, and with psychology training. You don’t need to be fit to write a parking ticket, or tell some skate boarders to move along.
