So, starting up a new game, I have a player wanting to run a Thief and the whole table agrees that if we’re planning to take this all the way to level 36, that class needs a better progression for abilities, and maybe a replacement Thief Ability system altogether.

While I’m not sold on replacing the entire system (like, I think most of the percentage chances are fine), I do think it’s a little thin for going up to max level. I’ve heard of people who have completely revised Thief Abilities, but I’m not sure which options people actually enjoy in play.

I’m partial to just homebrewing it with x-in-6 and maybe adding a few extra abilities at higher levels, but figured it was worth checking in.

Thanks!

Ah yeah, that looks like an ancient edition, probably Advanced 1st Edition? I am utterly out of my depth with versions that old I’m afraid.

Definitely not AD&D, I have those too and they’re much heavier books – these are more like magazines.

Haha, I’ve been pulling your leg, the confused response was just too funny to ignore at first. I have a new comment that explains it.

You’re good, and yes, it is older than 2e.
