You can take the Afrikaner out of South Africa, but you can’t take the apartheid out of the Afrikaner.

Good gods… This is a complete tangent but I have a coworker who went on a a full rant about how DEI is terrible and they lowered standards to get in poor black people… So straight up bulshit tech bro racism.

But then he starts talking about how he heard from a doctor in South Africa was talking (complaining) to him about how when they started hiring black doctors because of DEI the standards tanked and people were worse off.

And I was like “So a WHITE doctor from post apartide South Africa was complaining about how hiring black people ruined everything and that seemed like a legitimate source to cite huh?”

Which of course sent him on a whole thing about how the doctor being white had nothing to do with anything and how that was a super racist thing for me to imply… But I think the reframing was a bit of a shock to him.

That co-worker sounds like he should have been reported to HR fifteen times over for spreading hate speech in a work session.

It’s Union film. It gets weird when you involve teamsters as technically if we don’t work well together folks from my union are way less protected than they are. They may work for my boss but my boss has no firing power.

I am not even kidding when I tell you he is leagues better than the last teamster I worked with who thought it was perfectly chill to play all the hardcore right wing pundits… Particularly Jordan Peterson, Matt Walsh and Tucker Carlson who uses the T-slur pretty liberally while I was riding the cab of the truck and couldn’t remove myself (I am trans).

There’s a lot of really fucked up stuff in the film industry that nobody really talks about.

People are almost more susceptible to simpler charts with race and IQ than they are to the really complicated stuff

Ironically enough, that’s because they’re stupid.

To me that seemed like a stupid, obvious statement. That’s like saying “people are more susceptible to catchy pop songs than they are academic research papers.”

      Like…No shit.

spreading misinformation about racial minorities’ intelligence and physiology to his audience of 176.3 million followers—a dynamic my colleague Garrison Hayes analyzes in his latest video for Mother Jones.

Can we please pass a law that takes away his government contracts, toys, and celebrity and deport this mother fucker already?

Pass a law? Not when half of the legislative body is controlled by the GOP and benefits from Musk’s propaganda.

People need to consistently fight to keep the far right out of power if they want unbiased media.

And the other half is so caught up in appearing “unbiased” that they won’t pass anything that seems even the slightest bit politically charged.

You just have to make the law use generalized terms and categories rather than his name.

Pretend scientist and child of apartheid pushes pretend race “science?” Shocking.

By the way, the video in the article is worth watching even if you don’t read the article.

It’s always odd to me how articles keep trying to come up with qualifying other words.

    “Lies” becomes “misinformation”.

“Racism” becomes “specific kind of racism”.

Bullshit. They are lies and Elon is racist. Nothing else should matter. There are no graduated degrees of these words. It’s either a lie, or it isn’t. It’s either racist, or it isn’t.

Plainly stated: Elon is a racist lying sack of shit. Period.

So I was very curious about where all this narrative stemmed from as I kept seeing far right posts comparing IQ and different races.

Saw this video by Shawn (2 hour+ long) and he broke it down very well.

Basically, it’s just bad studies where they test both segregated white schools and also black schools (which were under funded and had average lower income levels for parents), then use the result as the smoking gun.

    It essentially comes down to:

Having a head start in life passes down the generation, so high income groups (and races over represented there) will always have a higher average IQ cause by the nature of IQ tests being just academic tests.

Yeah, thats rather evident, what’s unknown is how much was his original views and how much is it because he radicalized himself over the years?

Probably mostly original, given apartheid and all that.

Rich white guys should be in charge isn’t exactly new or unusual as far a racism goes.
