All hands on deck. All who denounce nazis are on the team. Those who refuse their help are not.

We’ll see where we’re at after you all vote so that kamala wins.

Before people bash her because of her dad:

    She is doing this

She spoke out as pro-gay marriage

She also headlined a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Texas.

She seems to keep her politics quiet, however these public displays land her on the right side of things. I don’t know her and don’t care one way or the other what side she’s on, I just want to be sure she’s getting a fair assessment without her dad’s shadow hanging over her.

I agree, makes no sense to hold someone accountable for other people’s views and actions, if she’s willing to stand up for her own views that’s all it takes.

I’d argue that what she’s doing is even more admirable, simply because it’s super fucking easy to fall into the “my parents voted this way so I do too” mindset. Pretty much every small town in America is full of people who were steeped in hate while growing up, have never known anything else, and fully plan on continuing the family tradition when they have kids of their own. It would be easy for her to just keep her head down and coast along on her father’s coattails. But she has actively refused to do so.

Who is this for? They’re acting like getting endorsements from the families of Bush and Cheney is like getting an endorsement from Ronald Regan, but Bush and Cheney were not popular at the end of their administration; they started two interminable wars and ended with the largest recession in recent history. Trump cut his teeth in 2016 by trashing George Bush and curb-stomping his brother in the primary. Conservatives who are still open to Trump probably aren’t huge fans of the Bush family! All this is doing is demoralizing the progressive base and showing conservatives that the kind of Republicans they rejected in 2016 support Harris.

      What do you mean?

They’ll face the same consequences whether they step up now, or before early voting.

Presumably, they think early voters are not undecided, and that this is the right timing to have the best impact.

Announcing just a week or two out gives them potential plausible deniability after the fact, less prominence in crowded news cycles now and less repeated points of exposure as a potential surrogate at events or in press. Basically, after the fact if trump wins, they can say it was an isolated, momentary lapse instead of deep commit and then smooth further with typical, “Realize I just felt threatened/pressured by those woke marxists CRTs and f da libz, trump 4 liffffz!” (If you need an example, go see every January 6 traitor crying in court, saying they should not have followed trump’s bullshit and their actions we’re reprehensible prior to sentencing… then fast forward to when they are released and they are at a Halloween party the next week dressed as Paul Pelosi with a hammer in their skull, showing off their new “stop the steal” tattoo and doing Lee Greenwood karaoke while standing in front of a “make America swastika again” flag)

And all will fairly easily be forgiven on that side, as they always need warm bodies regardless of any morality or integrity. And on the otherside if Harris wins, they get to sleep at night saying “I helped” without really having done or risked anything in response to a prior life of being actively driving or at leeway complicity with the root cause of the problem.

Two things can be true, they can still owe a lifetime of penance for their atrocious past actions (active or passive participation) AND they can start operating on the side of good for the rest of their lives to hopefully, eventually do more good than harm.

          Nonsense.

You said something stupid. Now you’re trying to back it up to avoid admitting it was a poorly considered brain fart. This is the worst part of social and frankly, cowardly. In an anonymous medium like lemmy no one cares if you’re right.

It’s not cowardly to wait until the moment you’ll have the best impact to make a statement like this.

She would’ve contacted the Harris campaign early on offering to endourse, and they’ve orchestrated and scheduled this release amongst everything else.

“Her dad” is a fucking war criminal who has been whitewashed into goofy, doofy grandpa with time, but who was the driver of a lot of SERIOUS damage inflicted on the US and the broader world. So a bit to start, sure, there’s a layer of gratitude for the action in this desperate moment, but overall fuck her and “her dad” ( like he’s just since dude, okay tool - cool story) Plain truth is I haven’t seen her ever directly acknowledge the fact that her father is trash and that’s how history should always remember him - short of that, she’s lacking a good start to any kind of meaningful apology. Also their family money, as most family money does, has some very fucked up roots.

To restate a bit for context, announcing just a week or two out gives them potential plausible deniability after the fact, less prominence in crowded news cycles now and less repeated points of exposure as a potential surrogate at events or in press.

Two things can be true at once, she can still owe a lifetime of penance for her/her family’s atrocious past actions (active or passive participation) AND they can start operating on the side of good for the rest of their lives to hopefully, eventually do more good than harm.

So respectfully, fuck you and your revisionist history, “no time to convict Nixon, the nation needs to heal” apologist bullshit.

Kamala all excited about support from republicans.

    It’s creepy.

The war criminal dick Cheney also supports Kamala.

I don’t think the democrat candidate embracing republicans is the look y’all blue maga folks think it is.

        I’m with you there.

But I don’t see how Kamala embracing republican politicians with poll numbers lower than even Biden is going to get her votes.

Maybe works for people who only watch cable tv?

They were going to vote for Kamala either way.
