I can recommend Dead Space and Little Nightmares. Eternal Darkness is another gem, but you’d have to play it on an emulator unless you have a GameCube.

I wouldn’t call FEAR and FEAR 2 horror tbh they are really unimpressive in that section, I’d be more of an action game (very good at that)

    Project Zomboid, S2HD remake, Paratopic

    S+

I feel like this was personally designed to trigger me. You played Condemned and don’t remember it? And FNAF is S tier horror? Edit: OMFG I just noticed RE 6 as an A… I’m not judging, I just wonder what we experienced differently.

FnaF is my favorite horror game if we count only 1-SL and ignore every kid friendly cash grab that came after it.

RE 6 takes place in my country and I like me some mindless apocalyptic zombie action so it has a special place for me, also giant mutant T-Rex is a bonus.

This is a world I’m unfamiliar with. Are there any good horror games that replicate the feeling of old-school gothic novels? Sort of more character and mystery-driven than survival/action? More soaking in dread and melancholy than shock and gore? I don’t hate the latter things so much as prefer them to be well-set-up by a slow burn if they’re going to be there.

Yeah definitely, although perhaps it could be more accurately described as a “terror game” rather a horror game. That part with the mirror…now that got me.
