Naja, eine nicht umstrittene Firma gibt es in diesem Markt wohl kaum. Das macht ja die ganze Sache so brisant: Wir finanzieren damit mit unseren Steuergeldern dubiose “Security” Firmen, die gezielt Schwachstellen in diversen Betriebssystemen und Geräten suchen und ausnutzen.

Hab ich was verpasst? Haben wir plötzlich zu viel PV, sodass es notwendig wird, die Technologie finanziell unattraktiver zu machen?

So wie ich das verstanden habe, ist das (zumindest theoretisch) keine Abgabenerhöhung insgesamt, sondern eine Neuberechnung der Gebühren. Aber angesichts der Finanzlage würde ich nicht drauf wetten.

Hat irgendjemand eine Idee, was die 16 KB Grenze bewirken soll? Anscheinend hat man sich ja bewusst gegen das Blocken von kleineren Dateien entschieden.

Mein erster Gedanke wär, dass z.b. Scriptfiles erlaubt werden sollen, aber Bilder und Videos nicht. Mit 16K fallen aber durchaus schon einige Sachen weg, was zu eingeschränkter Funktionalität führen wird.

The “End to end” encryption model of messenger apps allows the inspection of messages at each end. I just need to have your phone and read your messages. This doesn’t mean it is not secure.

As some comments here confuse this with mass surveillance - this is the opposite:

I personally have strong concerns that infecting the phones of the suspected persons is a reasonable approach. It’s probably extremely expensive, sponsors a doubious (at best) business model and if anything, can be used to find a drug dealer’s customers.
