Wow, what an episode.
I thought at the end of the last one the girls were finally gonna actually talk at the rooftop temple but I guess they just asked each other about who loves shu the most?
This is all feeling pretty rushed.
Last episode was definitely to create a build up for this one. A lot of plot developments happened all at once, making me wish it was a longer episode (although I understand why it’s not).
Bummed they got captured by Zeon. I’m hoping they continue showing how shitty Zeon is and this doesn’t turn into another Requiem for Vengeance.
Requiem for Vengeance
That was such an awful show lol. I trust Tsurumaki enough tho, so far he’s really hammered home how much both Zeon and the Federation suck. Although I’m getting anxious about if the AEUG/Mafty/Space Maoist analogue faction is going to show up tho.
Didn’t expect to hear that snippet of “Mobile Suits” off the Zeta score.
I feel like we’re moving towards a classic Tomino style conflict with a bunch of factions ricocheting off each other. It’ll be interesting to see what Bull’s alignment/goals will be in this.
Lots of weird versions of classic robots: we got a Hambrabi, a Braw Bro with a little dude that pops out, a Gyan, and a Psycho Gundam!
Edit: It also looks like we’re going back to the alternate UC 0079 next episode. Seems like elements of CCA are being brought in like with Gundam X’s alternate UC.
The Zeta score playing was the best kind of fanservice

Challia inheriting Char’s will is probably the best part of the show, and the MC’s getting split between the different Zeon factions too just to drive home the toxic yuri (Shuji’s probably on earth lol)
Braw Bro with a little dude that pops out
the little dude is the ki ke roga! (edit: oh man the word filter)

Yeah next ep looks like they’ll go over the remaining flashback stuff from the movie that didn’t make ep 2 due to time, although I do wonder what else they’ll put into the episode since that footage was only about 15 more mins of runtime.

I went down a rabbit hole and apparently the Ciceroga (as a filter-friendly romanization) was a MS made for Char in the final arcs of MSG that got cut due to the cancellation. I’ve seen way too much Gundam (nearly everything but most of build lmao), but this cut content and MSV stuff is still new to me.
Why do any of them care about mr “I must go, my planet needs me” anyways? Is it just weird bonding from the psychic space high they get while doing space murder? He’s such an empty void of a character who’s at most present in a few scenes that I feel like something’s missing there to justify the random love triangle drama.

It’s this, and the director kinda compressing a lot of legacy franchise tropes together into one character. The girls are kinda projecting a lot onto him (Freedom for Machu and Security/Companionship for Nyaan) whereas bro’s more interested in tagging and his haunted gundam- that said, I’m not sure it’s thaaaaaat unrealistic for teenage girls to develop love triangle drama from what amounts to their first crush.
I expected him to get fridged to drive the plot forward but him literally peacing out is way funnier
I’m was kinda hoping they’d push him out an airlock and take both gundams. He’s a really boring character to me.
That’s what I’ve been saying! And yeah I get teenage girls and all that. But they haven’t done the work to make me, as the viewer, give a shit about him. The “romance” went from 0 to 100, at breakneck speeds. It felt like I missed an episode.
Things are definitely picking up. Multiple, “so that just happened.” Moments.
