Why do any of them care about mr “I must go, my planet needs me” anyways? Is it just weird bonding from the psychic space high they get while doing space murder? He’s such an empty void of a character who’s at most present in a few scenes that I feel like something’s missing there to justify the random love triangle drama.

It’s this, and the director kinda compressing a lot of legacy franchise tropes together into one character. The girls are kinda projecting a lot onto him (Freedom for Machu and Security/Companionship for Nyaan) whereas bro’s more interested in tagging and his haunted gundam- that said, I’m not sure it’s thaaaaaat unrealistic for teenage girls to develop love triangle drama from what amounts to their first crush.

I expected him to get fridged to drive the plot forward but him literally peacing out is way funnier

this That’s what I’ve been saying! And yeah I get teenage girls and all that. But they haven’t done the work to make me, as the viewer, give a shit about him. The “romance” went from 0 to 100, at breakneck speeds. It felt like I missed an episode.
