Sublette County Sheriff K.C. Lehr has received more than 7,000 emails about a Wyoming man who reportedly captured and tormented a wolf before killing it, he told Cowboy State Daily on Wednesday.
Some of those are threats.
Lehr said people in his office, as well as Sublette County and Wyoming Game and Fish Department personnel, have been receiving threats — including death threats — stemming from Daniel, Wyoming, man Cody Roberts’ reported capture, torment and killing of a wild wolf in late February.
Unpopular Opinion: I’d like to know what happened to the wolf and how it ended up like this in the first place. If he lasso’d it from 5 meters after it tried to eat his cat and it was released by fish and game after a week, then I cannot be mad about this.
If he drove 40 miles to get this wolf out of it’s habitat and tape it’s mouth shut then ate it, that’s death threat material.

The wolf is a dumb animal. It doesn’t understand ethics or morality or the relationships between a cat and a human. It barely has a sense of interspecies empathy. The human knows better. He knows he’s inflicting suffering for absolutely no reason but spite, and he’s choosing to do that anyway.

Torture of an animal has zero place in normality. Dispatching an animal that threatens your family or pets as a means to protect is one thing, torture is not acceptable under any circumstances.
