I have never understood the obsession with Tankman by liberals. If this was most western countries, they’d have just driven over the guy. We have seen police do exactly that in protest after protest.

Even before I saw the full clip and was a deluded socdem, I always saw it as a testament to the patience and consideration of the PLA.

Tank man was actually obstructing the tanks from leaving the square (i.e. moving away from the protests) so theoretically he could have been some hard core Communist who wanted the PLA to go back and crush the color revolutionaries for good lmao.

I always thought it was implied that he was ran over or something. The picture really doesn’t mean anything otherwise, and the US education system really doesn’t try to explain any further than “this one guy standing in front of 3 tanks? he was like totally massacred bro, trust me”.

What’s especially fucked up is that there is an actual real life version of events like this that did happen in a “Western” “country”.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Corrie

Rachel Corrie was protesting the destruction of Palestinian homes by the Zionist forces in Rafah, and stood in front of a bulldozer that was attempting to flatten a house. The driver didn’t stop, and drove over her, crushing and killing her.

Yet we don’t see the internet commemorating her death every year and condemning the people who actually did it. Shameful.
