The video is old which was randomly suggested to watch but just checking that it’s still a thing.

That content creator said many things about proton mail, idk whether they are falsified i.e. the reason I am posting.

  • ProtonMail is subject to surveillance due to its location in Switzerland. As a member of the 14 Eyes surveillance alliance, Switzerland shares data with foreign intelligence.
  • ProtonMail’s CEO has made statements and taken actions that have disappointed privacy advocates. The CEO is seen as prioritizing profits over privacy.
  • ProtonMail logs user activity by default, scanning for criminal behavior. This level of logging is problematic for privacy.
  • ProtonMail has shifted away from strong encryption. While it used to focus heavily on encryption, it has pivoted away from this, which concerns privacy experts.–

Yeah careful. They might tell the authorities that your IP you once used showed up in their web server logs.

Seriously don’t listen to the tinfoil crap. Proton can’t decrypt your shit. It is well worth the money.

So you can’t trust swiss companies because of one company… when Switzerland has some of the strongest data privacy laws

I do have concerns about Proton since I am using their products and services.

Their payment methods doesn’t include options like Monero or atleast through other cryptocurrencies. They have this anonymous data collection, ofc we can disable it. And it has this ip log info for “checking unknown entities”. Can they completely disable or remove this feature from their code? So they can proclaim they are “unable to log” instead they “do not log” - I think you know the french activist incident. Btw I am not here to blame them.

An easy way to debunk this nonsense would be to do a 2 second search for 14 eyes and confirm Switzerland isn’t a part of it.

Well, since he’s not backing up anything with facts, I’d say the whole video is about his opinions on different email services. I’d say he’s allowed to have his opinions, but it’s rather careless to voice these opinions to the public, since he’s trying to make them come off as facts.

Instead of baiting on these (there are A LOT of them) articles and random videos on YouTube claiming this and that, go to reputable sources for privacy news/aritcles/reviews.

Except Switzerland is not a member of the 14 Eyes. Perhaps they got Switzerland and Sweden confused? I assume I can ignore whatever else this moron has to say considering this first point is blatantly false and they obviously did zero fact checking.
