This shit is so annoying, even the “communist” subs are filled with ultras and liberals. They’re all so chronically online and just obnoxious

I’m getting more involved with FRSO shit anyways, so I’ll have less time to spend on there. Never was useful anyways.

Fuck these idiots

Further, FRSO is one of the only existing parties to have been raided by the FBI, and we wear that badge with honor.

There are plenty of members, though our focus is less on building up members in FRSO (that is important though) and more on agitating the masses and getting them involved in mass organizations. We understand that there is not a dominant working class party in the US, and that there likely will not be a major uptick in explicit communist organizing in time before shit really hits the fan (climate change, serious war, etc.)

The goal is to funnel the masses to organizations that are not explicitly communist but hold similar principles that are easier for the average USian to grasp and get behind - local anti-war, anti-bigotry, unionization, things of that nature. They are not fronts for the party and they are ran by members of the “masses” themselves, i.e. I as an FRSO member could in theory be removed from the local mass orgs I am in.

The mass line is very important to FRSO’s method of organizing and important to successfully enacting a revolution in general. FRSO or any other explicit communist party will never reach the numbers that a mass organization would, especially in the US.

So while you’re correct that there aren’t (as) many cadre in FRSO proper compared to other orgs, there exists a large base of GMs and almost every single organization that is not a front for some other party exists because of FRSO. Take Students for a Democratic Society as an example.

This is not to say we don’t want FRSO to have a solid influence on these mass orgs; in practice the most dedicated and hard-working organizers in them are FRSO and we celebrate that as communists because then the socialist movement has a solid way to influence and educate the masses. But we cannot go about organizing just recruiting for communism in the US, at least not yet.

There’s more reading on the website, frso.org

But all in all, we are a deeply serious organization with cadre who go through extensive political education and exercises, and many of them have years if not decades of experience. I don’t want to throw shade or anything of that sort to other parties, but I can confidently say when the revolution comes busting through the US, FRSO will have had the largest “market share” in terms of impact/credit for it.

I absolutely support leaving reddit, it will help your mental health for sure, the social media landscape is by and large a hazard to mental health.

I only use reddit when I search online for recommendations or answers to questions (usually computer related). Besides that, I am not using my account really anymore. Because of the reddit exodus, most lemmy instances are filled with extremely toxic people, and it kind of makes me sick to my stomach, so I am siloed into lemmygrad for the most part. I use other instances and social media to spread info for a socialist cause, even if I don’t do well at it sometimes. When I work with PSL, it’s a breath of fresh air.

      Hello from Milwaukee comrade

I’ve only been in FRSO for about four months, but I already know I’m going to eventually start working towards becoming cadre.

I hope you love it as much as I do, they really are a deeply disciplined and professional revolutionary organization.

I left during the max exodus, I miss very little. I recommend anyone divest themselves.

There were a couple small niche subs (like some of the hospitality subs I participated in or the dyson sphere program sub) I miss, but not enough to wade through the cesspool. There is about a 60% chance that any thread on that site, regardless of the original subject matter, will devolve to “Russia bad” or “China bad”. Sprinkling of “Kim bad” if they find a way to discuss world leaders.

same. i miss a couple subs, but i can get much of the same content on other social media sites, and there’s no point to being part of two or three websites i hate when one will do just fine.

The_Leftorium was my favorite sub, half-dunks half-history, and legit broke down theory faster using arcane Simpsons memes than any ELI5 you could create. All of the mods got banned by Reddit, and the only one to survive the purge is the most milquetoast lib that yesterday he started deleting critical comments about Biden on a post that said nothing but TRUMP IS THE WORST PRESIDENT. Cesspool status confirmed.

I only occasionally look at political subreddits, I usually just look at stuff like music instead and even then, I’m accessing Reddit through Libreddit because I don’t like the website at all

Deleted my old account and made a new one with the rule of not joining any remotely political or country related sub. It’s a good enough side for hobby subs which is why I went to Reddit in the first place. Much better experience.

Deleting it is fine too of course.

Even the hobbyist subs will find a way to sneak in some “china bad”, but it is at least greatly reduced most of the time. Definitely avoid any of the bigger umbrella communities (i.e don’t join general gaming subs, join specific game subs. Same for most media)

Being banned from /r/worldnews should be required for any ex-redditors joining lemmygrad. I think I got banned at least a couple times there, for the most innoucous shit.

Ultra = a communist who rejects materialism and maintains liberal idealism when understanding socialism and communism.

They fetishize defeat which is why the perfect communist revolutions are those that failed and the perfect revolutionaries are those who refused to compromise liberal moralism, while communists who lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty and rolled back empires have dirty hands because they didn’t tie them behind their backs.
