I did eat fish a few years ago because it was an invasive species (and also, delicious).
But also, I have no problem getting the food/nutrients I need from a plant based diet, which isn’t always easy for other folks.

qjkxbmwvz@startrek.websiteto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Disney killed a bunch of puppies making "Snow Buddies" and weren't allowed to use the "no animals were harmed" claimEnglish0·2 days agoWhat’s the conventional wisdom as to why this is so bad, but eating meat basically gets a pass? Like, meat offers sustenance, yes, but it’s by no means required. So basically, humans eat meat because it tastes really good — it’s great “culinary entertainment.”
This is a different kind of entertainment, but it’s deeply offensive to many folks. I’m not trying to be a dick about it, just curious why this is seen as such a sin.
Is it that these animals weren’t “supposed” to be killed? Would a movie about a beef cow who ends up getting slaughtered, both onscreen and IRL, be seen as better? Worse?

It’s a start.

I think it’s probably better to amend it to, “if it was covered in poop would you get rid of it and not replace it?”
Talk to your manager.
Shortly after I was hired, my manager told me I should feel free to decline any meeting that didn’t seem useful, or that if it was preventing me from getting “real” work done.

Multiples of eleven are quick to enter, and with a simple nuker with no “minute” button, 66s is easier than 1:00.

Otherwise, the city council will kill your project. English0·12 days agoOn the one hand, that sucks, on the other…well, what really sucks is that it’s probably necessary given the state of public transit and bikeability. (Haven’t been to Nashville, so I can’t comment on public transportation there.)

I don’t think that’s correct, for example, San Francisco:
On December 11, 2018, the Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance (the “Ordinance”) eliminating required parking minimums citywide for all uses.
Depends on the person — when the pandemic hit I was a grad student, we didn’t have kids, and our living situation was nice (tiny studio but it had a wonderful, if small, outdoor space). Scary times for sure, but life — at least the day to day — was…pretty good!
Now we have kids, and my god, I can’t imagine.
